This system includes a Martin inertia-compensated festoon system, a patented butt splice unit, and a two-position, side-by-side, in-line, fixed-position cantilevered unwind.  The controls integrating these components are mounted in the equipment, allowing automatic roll unwinding, splicing and tension control.

  • Martin linear-shear butt splice unit with provision for two-sided tape application, 25 mm wide splicing tape
  • Two (2) cantilevered, fixed-position Martin standard Convertech pneumatic spindles for 6 inch internal diameter cores,  with air-gun inflation mounted on operator side
  • Fixed spindle configuration requires the use of customer-supplied roll loading equipment to place rolls onto cantilevered spindles
  • Martin single-roller, inertia-compensated festoon system, with Martin closed loop feedback system to Martin pneumatic brakes, provides tension of 8 to 20 pounds total across the web
  • Upgrade to Allen-Bradley PLC system
  • Remote operator enclosure for each unwind, shipped loose for customer mounting
  • Upgrade to Festo valves
  • FDA compliance

  • Powder coat frame members
  • Hard coat anodized roller shells

  • Martin standard ground & polished roller shafts (do not come into contact with web)

In-Register Splicing Capability
  • Target:  High contrast mark in a clear track, sized a minimum of ¼ inch in machine direction by ½ inch width,  mark detected on top-side of web only
  • Maximum Repeat Range:  124 mm
  • Splice Accuracy:  ± 1/8-inch at maximum splicing speed
  • System is designed to splice from butt rolls to full rolls of material only
