Decanters provide an efficient method for solid-liquid extraction, especially when dealing with mixtures containing a high solids content. Before entering the decanter, the ground extraction material is thoroughly mixed with the extraction agent in a separate mixer. The suspension then flows into the decanter through an inlet that is aligned axially with the rotating bowl. The decanter features a solid-walled vessel with a cylindrical section designed for effective liquid clarification and a conical section for dewatering the solids. A spiral inside the vessel rotates at a slightly different speed than the vessel itself, pushing the solids (extraction residue) towards the solids discharge located at the conical end. The liquid extract is directed to the cylindrical end of the vessel, where it is discharged via a pump.
