The Invitrogen E-Gel Power Base is an agarose gel electrophoresis system for use on DNA samples. E-Gels save time and waste by eliminating exposure to ethidium bromide and the need to prepare and dispose of liquid buffer. This is a self-contained unit with a built-in power supply which plugs directly into an outlet.

Workable gel area- 7.5 cm by 5.8 cm
Thickness of the gel-mated to be 0.4 cm, 12 wells and the well width is 4 mm with the space between wells 1 mm.

Single Comb E-Gel.
The Double Comb E-Gels have 2 rows of 9 wells (8 samples & 1 marker in each row) spaced so gels can be loaded with an 8-channel pipettor.
Run length is 2.9 cm vs. 5.8 cm single comb run length.

The agarose used in E-Gels have an electroendosmosis range of less than 0.11.
Agarose used in the 1.2% and 2% E-Gels is molecular biology grade, normal melting point, and less than 0.25% ash content. For the 4% E-Gels, a special high-resolution agarose is used. TAE buffer is used in the small format E-Gel system.
