The Spectrum Labs KrosFlo Perfusion System is a leader in perfusion innovation, Spectrum Labs has focused on improving cell culture yields by simplifying operations. Utilizing modified polyethersulfone membranes, ... the KrosFlo perfusion system creates a conducive environment for cell growth, and increases the amount of expressed proteins... creating a high quality product by removing problematic enzymes. The specific hollow fiber geometry is perfect for large membrane capacities,... and achieves extremely high cell densities,... while maintaining cell viability.

With sterile, disposable and ready-to-use components, KrosFlo Perfusion Systems combine convenience with optimal performance. The KrosFlo Perfusion System eliminates the autoclaving process, taking set up time from hours to minutes. Spectrum's KPS Systems are designed specifically to lower the residence time of cells outside the bio-reactor. This minimizes damage to the cells, while creating a low shear, smooth flow-path, without changing cell viability or function. In addition, the gentle flow rate is ideal for Perfusion, and eliminates pulsations creating stable pressure profiles. Also equipped with non-invasive components, and an LCD touch screen to control and maintain critical operation parameters. The KPS Systems, with capabilities from 2-2000 Liters; can handle Lab, Pilot, and Production Scale Bioreactors. For greater flexibility and a small laboratory footprint, the KML System accommodates low volume perfusion at an affordable price.

KML [KrosFlo MagLev] Benchtop Perfusion and Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF) Systemis designed for many TFF process operations. With perfusion, the KML is designed for managing 1.5 L to 100L working volume bioreactors using gamma sterilized single-use perfusion flow-paths (MBT's). The system uses a single-use, non-pulsating, levitating magnetic pump controlled by the PLC. The pump is low shear for improved cell viability. The KML system has a small benchtop footprint and comes with a detachable flow path stand.

The KML is a completely integrated system with a color touchscreen to display pressures, flows, weights and process overview with end user set point functionality. There are visual and audible alarms with safety interlocks to insure process parameters are maintained. Operators are able to input values for managing six (6) different TFF modes and a manual operation mode. The system comes complete with two (2) auxiliary peristaltic pumps. The non-invasive components include a retentate control valve that manages TMP by adjusting the pinch distance between the plunger and the tubing and an ultrasonic retentate flow meter that clamps on the tubing. To prevent cells from settling and forming a gel layer on the membrane lumen, the KML system adjusts through a PID control loop from the flow meter.

Further advancements include automatic back pulsing features, USB port for real time data collection, as well as graphical display of process data. KML modes of operation include Perfusion Mode and 5 traditional TFF modes:

Concentration
Concentration/Diafiltration
Concentration/Diafiltration/Final Concentration
Concentration/Diafiltration(1)/Diafiltration (2)/Final Concentration
Continuous Feed or Diafiltration
